Add in some interesting family characters, plenty of drama and TV execs saw dollar signs. Guess who the bounty hunter was? Ratings soared and people couldn't get enough of the man with the big personality wrapped in black biker gear, his long blonde hair adorned with feathers flowing behind him as he chased down crooks.

The show took viewers into the lives of "ordinary folks" as they worked their jobs as a professional gambler, bounty hunter, meter maid, funeral director and so on. Many people forgot or simply don't know that Dog got his TV start by appearing on a slice of life reality show called Take This Job. While Dog is now retired from official bounty hunting business, he is still hard at work at his role as a TV personality alongside his wife Beth, the buxom blonde. But Duane didn't know of his son's existence until after White died by suicide, and the father-son pair reconnected when Christopher was an adult.Dog, the Bounty Hunter or DTBH as die hard fans refer to the show, proved to America that the family who make arrests together stay together and gave a whole new meaning to the term "family bonding." The show had an incredible run, staying on A&E from 2004 to 2012 and developed a massive fan base. The reality star's first child, Christopher Michael Hecht, was born after Duane's teenage relationship with a woman named Debbie White.
However, his relationship with some of his children has been strained at times. He also later served time in a federal prison related to bounty-hunting charges in Mexico after tracking down Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was convicted of multiple sexual assaults.ĭuane has been married five times and is a father to 12 children.
While he served his time at the Texas State Penitentiary, Duane's first wife, La Fonda Sue Honeycutt - the mother of his sons Duane Lee Chapman II and Leland Chapman - divorced him and married his best friend. "I should not have been there, that's that," he said of his involvement when the conviction later barred him from entering the U.K. Despite the fact that he claimed to be merely an accomplice to the crime, Duane was convicted of first-degree murder. In 1976, when he was 23 years old, Duane was waiting in a car when a friend shot and killed a man during a drug deal gone wrong. Duane dropped out of school at age 13 and lived a rough life as a member of a motorcycle gang, with several arrests for armed robbery and other crimes.
